Learning "Mandarin" in Beijing
Objective To develop and enhance students' Mandarin proficiency, improve their ability to communicate in that language and build a solid foundation for the future social environment of bilingual integration.
Duration A total of 28 days from July 4 to 31, 2021
Target Participants Students who hold valid Macao SAR resident identity cards, attend full-time bachelor programs in the academic year 2020/2021, in the higher education institutions in or outside Macao (whereby those with Mandarin being the non-main language of instruction are preferred; students who are attending the last year of their bachelor programs or higher diploma programs lasting 4 years or longer or students who have attended Mandarin courses are excluded.)
Note: Participants are required to be enrolled in a higher education course during the periods of registration and the activities.

Registration You can make your registration on this webpage and, in the meantime, upload the following documents:
  1. Photocopy of the valid Macao SAR Resident Identity Card (front and back);
  2. Photocopy of the valid student card (front and back);
  3. Photocopies of transcripts for the academic year 2020/2021 and previous academic years (names, majors, disciplines and scores must be shown on the transcripts while freshmen must also submit photocopies of transcripts of the 12th grade of secondary education);
  4. A letter of recommendation (if any)

Submittal date for supplementary documents The admitted students must submit the following information to Centre for Higher Education Students or by mail within 3 days after being notified:
1. Photocopy of a valid Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (showing the front and back sides);
2. Declaration
Note: The above documents may be submitted via a designated person with a certificate of entrustment signed by the admitted student. Those who fail to submit the documents before the deadline are deemed to have abandoned the pursuit of admission.
Details of Activities Lectures and courses in language and culture, chinese cultural experience courses, martial arts, calligraphy and Peking opera, visits to well-known local businesses and enterprises; visits to local historical and cultural attractions and exchanges with local students.
Fees Free of charge
(Participants must bear their own cost of the nucleic acid test required to travel to Mainland China and Macao.)
Obligations
  • The admitted students must attend the preparatory meeting (Monday, June 28) and the closing meeting (Friday, August 13) organized by DSEDJ. The eligibility of absentees will be canceled automatically, and as a consequence they will not receive the certificates.
  • The admitted students must present a valid nucleic acid test report with negative result before departure.
  • Participants are required to submit a report of at least 1,000 words (Chinese or English) to DSEDJ within 10 working days subsequent to completion of the course.
  • Participants have to pay attention to the latest disease prevention measures of the destination and Macao.
Note
  • DSEDJ will provide a round-trip air ticket to Beijing, valid for three months. Participants may ask the airline to postpone the date back to Macao and bear all possible costs arising therefrom based on the actual situations;
  • DSEDJ will provide a travel insurance during the activities: A student who postpones the return date must take out additional travel insurance for the extension period, and the costs arising therefrom shall be borne by the student. Additionally, the student shall be solely responsible for his/her personal safety and any accident he or she may suffer during the extension period.
  • In order to ensure that students participate in the program as scheduled, students will arrange group departure. If students are unable to leave Macao together within the prescribed period, they will have to bear the transport and insurance costs of the place where they are attending the courses.
  • The student must ensure that participating in this program will not affect his/ her regular academic course arrangements.
  • The program may be postponed or canceled due to the situation of Novel coronavirus pneumonia.
