    • Background:

        The higher education institutions (HEIs) shoulder the missions and functions on nurturing of higher education talents for their countries and regions. The world thus attaches great importance to the quality of higher education. Numerous countries and regions place higher education accreditation as a key strategy to enhance higher education quality and thus formulate relevant mechanism.

        In order to achieve the ideal of “Improving education to make Macao better” stated in the policy address, enhance sustainable growth of higher education and bring Macao higher education system more in line with international practices, the MSAR government is revising the 'Higher Education Law'. Upon promulgation of the law, the 'Higher Education Quality Assurance System' will be implemented to sustainably enhance the quality of Macao higher education.

       The conference invites leaders of HEIs and academics from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Portugal and Australia to share experience and achievement of higher education accreditation in their countries and regions, as well as explore the direction of future development of higher education accreditation. The discussion will then be favourable to Macao for its preparation to implement the higher education accreditation system in the future.

    Objectives:
    • Understand the development of higher education accreditation of different countries and regions.

    • Explore and discuss the direction of higher education accreditation in Macao through exchanging ideas with academics and scholars of different countries and regions.
    Target Audience:
    • Leaders of HEIs and academics from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Portugal and Australia.

    • Interested parties in higher education accreditation.
